The diagnosis

Market awareness was strong. Market perception had fallen behind.

HackerRank had raised more than $100 million, reached approximately $50 million in ARR, and achieved extraordinary recognition among developers and enterprise technical-hiring teams.

Yet much of the market still evaluated the company through a decade-old frame: generic coding tests and “LeetCode-style” screening. Meanwhile, the buyer conversation was shifting toward AI-era software development, next-generation technical roles, and hiring integrity.

The commercial challenge was twofold: modernize the category story for an AI hiring world while building the reusable content and campaign infrastructure needed to drive pipeline now.

Commercial outcomes

The narrative began producing measurable leverage.

The work connected AI-era positioning to conversion destinations, ABM assets, lifecycle programs, paid creative, editorial systems, and sales-ready proof—supporting both enterprise pipeline and self-serve monetization.

The strategy

Create one AI-era story the entire GTM system could reuse.

The priority was a unifying narrative that ABM, paid, inbound, outbound, lifecycle, and self-serve teams could deploy without reinventing the market story every week.

01

Reframe the category story around AI-era development, hiring integrity, and next-generation technical roles.

02

Unify the message across GTM so campaigns, pages, content, and sales conversations reinforced the same commercial thesis.

03

Personalize strategic ABM through account-level research, human outreach, and interactive product proof.

04

Build conversion destinations for AI Principles and Next-Gen Hiring across ABM, paid, and enterprise evaluation.

05

Treat lifecycle as a revenue product spanning trial nurture, expansion, upgrades, and reactivation.

06

Operationalize editorial execution through shared planning, message guidance, and cross-functional visibility.

07

Win AI discovery through a structured AEO program and pillar content designed for compounding visibility.

08

Expand beyond conventional B2B media through Hackonomics and short-form AI storytelling.

Selected execution

What I actually shipped.

The repositioning moved through the company as campaign infrastructure, conversion assets, editorial systems, and new distribution channels.

01

“Hot AI” ABM campaign

Built a three-touch outbound motion with account-level research and an interactive Supademo sandbox, then routed engaged targets into AE follow-up.

02

AI Principles and Next-Gen Hiring

Owned messaging and partnered with design on landing pages and whitepapers that made trust, integrity, and AI-era hiring central buying criteria.

03

Lifecycle revenue programs

Built trial nurture, Interview expansion, upgrade nudges, and reactivation offers with direct value framing, executive signatories, and product proof.

04

Paid campaign planning

Partnered with demand generation to map creative concepts across Meta, Google, and Reddit for cold audiences, prospects, and existing customers.

05

Editorial operating system

Built a shared Notion planning and messaging system to reduce execution friction and improve cross-functional visibility.

06

Pillar editorials

Wrote brand-journalism pieces defining AI-era engineering roles and hiring dynamics, built to compound across search, outbound, and sales enablement.

07

AEO visibility program

Co-managed HackerRank’s AI visibility initiative, reaching a 22.6% share of voice and 55.3% mention rate against key competitors within 90 days.

08

Hackonomics media channel

Owned the narrative direction for a short-form AI media hub using the CEO’s likeness, coordinating production to reach audiences beyond traditional B2B channels.

GTM lessons

What repositioning an established category leader revealed.

01

Category memory can become a commercial constraint. High awareness still requires active repositioning when the market’s evaluation criteria change.

02

Give sales reusable proof. Strong content becomes commercially useful when teams can deploy it directly inside target-account conversations.

03

Build conversion destinations, not isolated campaigns. Durable pages and assets increase the value of paid, ABM, outbound, and organic distribution simultaneously.

04

Lifecycle deserves product-level rigor. Trial nurture, expansion, upgrades, and reactivation can materially change monetization when treated as a connected system.

05

Operational clarity protects creative velocity. Shared messaging, planning visibility, and explicit priorities help strong work survive complex stakeholder environments.
